Mission Statement:  The media center exists to insure that the curriculum needs of the students and faculty are supported with a variety of resources.  In order to provide the best possible service, the media center staff works closely with teachers and students to insure that materials representing various levels and viewpoints are available, to develop educational activities that utilize the resources of the media center, and to provide learning activities to develop each individual's reading and research skills.  The media center's goal is to encourage a life-long love of learning that will enable students to become responsible, independent users of literature and information resources.

The Pike Central High School Media Center contains 18.500 volumes and access to SIRS, INSPIRE and Destiny databases.  The library is open for in-school use from 7:50 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.  During the school day, classes use the library for research; individual, project and team work, as well as, computer activities.  While in the library, they are learning about reference books, circulating books, periodicals, encyclopedias and electronic resources. The staff members are available and model information literacy skills so necessary in today's world.

Fun Library Facts: * The library has approximately 18,500 books in the collection.  The largest subject collection areas are history and fiction. The single book with the most pages is Webster's Third New International Unabridged Dictionary with 2662 pages.
