The PC softball team is selling t-shirts for the Breast Cancer Awareness game that will be played on May 6th at Pike Central! They are $10 and proceeds will go to help FIND A CURE!! Not only come out to support your Chargers... on this night, but also help us Strike Out Cancer! The NHS will be holding its annual 5K walk/run at Prides Creek Park on May 10, 2014 at 9:00. Those who register before April 23rd will receive a t-shirt. Click here for more information and the registration form.

DistinXion Basketball Camp will be held at Pike Central on May 2-4, 2014 for students in grades 2-8.
Pike Central High School will be hosting a PC Showcase on Monday, May 5 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. All students and teachers are welcome to submit artwork, science experiments, poetry, robotics/technology items or selfies. If you plan to submit a piece, please sign up in the middle school front office by April 17 . If we do not have enough entries, the show will not be able to take place. Congratulations to Olivia Whann and Garret Wojtowicz on being named Prom Princess and Prince.  Tanner Brooks and Sarah D'Esposito on being name Prom King and Queen.
Congratulations to Gabe Elliott. Gabe was selected as All-Conference Honorable Mention for basketball.

Congratulations to the following students who placed in the State BPA contest.  Abe Jenson received first place in his Economic Research Project, advancing him to Nationals.  Kaylee Gray placed 6th in Presentation Management and Dakota Lee earned a spot in the top 8 in the Entrepreneurship event.  These are highly competitive events with some of the best students in the State.

Pike Central Vocational Welding student and Forest Park senior Wes Weyer placed 2nd at the Skills USA Welding Contest held at Walker Career Center in Indianapolis on March 15th. Wes received a $7,500 scholarship to Ohio Technical College in Cleveland, Ohio; and welding-related prizes.

The students competed against 25 state qualifiers throughout the state using the GTAW, GMAW and SMAW welding processes and oxy-acetylene cutting to construct a project from blueprints.  Also included in the competition was a 50 question welding-related written test.

Other students competing in the contest were Northeast Dubois senior Wayne Betz, Pike Central senior Dakota Lee, and Northeast Dubois junior Trey Foltz.

Congratulations to Dylan Query, Emma Williams, Steven Lin, Madelynn D'Esposito, Presley Bryant, Becca Oakman, Mr Krahl and Ms. Burns.  Their film, Das Zeitrequisit, won first place in the Original Script category as part of the first-annual German Theater Festival at Indiana University.  Congratulations to everyone involved with this project.


Congratulations to the Jazz Band on earning a gold rating at the ISSMA Jazz Festival.
Congratulations to Nick Baker. Nick was named Academic All-State in Wrestling. Great job, Nick.


It was another good weekend for the music program.  The band students earned 22 gold ratings, 3 silver, and 1 bronze rating at solo and ensemble.  Advancing to State will be

Congratulations to Sylvia Henson. Sylvia advanced to diving regional.
Advancing to Semi-State in Boy's Wrestling is Dalton Miller with his 2nd place finish at Regional.  Alex Roberts finished 3rd in his weight class to also advance to Semi-Station competition.
Zach Loveland scored 2nd place overall in the beginning division of the Statewide Machine Trades Competition at Vincennes University.  Also, Colton Brittain received a special achievement award for the highest score on the written theory component of the competition in the beginning division.   Great Job!!!
Seven PCHS students participated in the District Indiana State School Music Association vocal contest held Saturday, Feb. 1, at Southridge High School in Huntingburg.  Pictured above are Bodhi Van Winkle, Kiersten Smith, Kyle Robling, Jon Krueger, Amber Dulworth and Jacie Fears.  Competing but not pictured is Steven Lin.  Van Winkle, Robling, Krueger, Dulworth, Fears and Lin received 1st Place Gold medals and will advance to the State Competition in Indianapolis.  Smith received a silver medal for her solo.


Congratulations to the Pike Central Wrestling Team.  The team had a 5th place finish at Sectional competition.  Alex Roberts won the 195 lb weight class.  Dalton Miller finished 2nd in the 285 weight class.  Austin Bolin, Devin Phillips and Blake Carroll finished 3rd in their weight class.  Eli Loveland and Caleb Hawkins finished 5th in their weight class.  Nick Baker and Jaylon Owens finished 6th in their weight class.  Good job to the team and Coach Billy Hewig!
Congratulations to the Winter Guard on their 2nd place finish in the Regional A class competition at Danville High School.  They will be competing again on February 15th at Columbus East High School.

Congratulations to the Pike Central Vocational Welding students who took the top five places at the Region 4 Skills USA Welding Contest.  Pike Central Senior Dakota Lee placed first place.  Dakota received a tuition scholarship for one semester in the College of Technology Program at Vincennes University.  Also placing for the PC Vocational team were:  Forest Park senior Wes Weyer - 2nd place.  Pike Central senior Jesse Bush - 3rd.  Northeast Dubois junior Trey Foltz - 4th and Northeast Dubois senior Wayne Betz - 5th.  Way to go to the Welding Department and Mr. Kevin Carter for a job well done teaching these students.

 

The top five students from each region will advance to the State contest that will be held at Walker Career Center in Indianapolis on March 14-15th.


Congratulations to Lauren Morton for being named Winter Homecoming Queen and Lindsey Nixon on being named Winter Homecoming Princess!  Congratulations to both of these ladies!
