Superintendent's Message

Mrs. Suzanne Blake, Superintendent of the Pike County Schools

Blake has been the principal at Southwestern Junior-Senior High School in Shelby County since 2004.  She previously worked at Pike Central High School in southwestern Indiana as a mathematics teacher and school counselor.  She was also an adjunct instructor for Vincennes University's mathematics department.  She is certified as an Indiana School Safety Specialist and has attended training conferences in Michigan and Colorado.  She has served as a panelist for student education majors at Franklin College and presented workshops at the Indiana Student Education Association (ISEA) fall conference.  Blake has had the opportunity to serve on the organizational committees for alternative school programs for at-risk students, as well as develop and expand programs for high ability students.  She is committed to helping students find success.

Blake graduated from Pike Central High School in 1979.  She completed her teaching degree at Oakland City University and her school counseling degree at Indiana State University.  She also completed the requirements for school administration, both at the building level and corporation levels, at Indiana State University.  She is currently completing her PhD in Curriculum and Instruction.  Her husband, Danny, graduated from Pike Central HS in 1977 and is employed by Indianapolis Power and Light.  They have three children and five grandchildren.

Blake has been active in various community organizations such as Delta Theta Tau, Pike County Optimists, and Blue River Lions Club.  She is a member of the Petersburg First Baptist Church.
